Jewelry Care
Congratulations on your acquisition of our unique Sterling Silver Hawaiian jewelry. Each piece of jewelry has been crafted by a skilled silversmith to create a beautiful lasting keepsake. Here are a few tips on caring for your jewelry.
Remove your jewelry when performing household tasks, gardening, using abrasive elements and using cleaners that contain any bleach, ammonia, acetone, alcohol, polish remover, or turpentine. These all can severely discolor and damage your jewelry. Store your jewelry in a plastic zip lock bag. This will slow down the tarnishing process and prevent scratches.
Many of our pieces of jewelry have a "frosted" appearance, for these pieces, we do not recommend using a silver cloth or a liquid commercial jewelry cleaner. They both will strip away the beautiful "frosted" appearance from your jewelry. We have tested many commercial jewelry cleaners and experimented with many "so called" home remedies. We found that the best cleaner can actually be found in our cupboards: baking soda. For this process you will need a disposable aluminum pan, this can be substituted with a glass dish lined with aluminum foil. You will also need 2 tablespoons of baking soda and hot water. Pour the hot water into the pan, enough to submerge your jewelry. Add the baking soda and mix. Place the jewelry into the pan, avoid overlapping. Wait 30 seconds, remove the jewelry and rinse in hot water. The results will surprise you!
